Obituary of Deborah Ann Smith
Deborah Ann (Schofield) Smith, 64, of Woodstock passed away at her home with family by her side on February 4, 2022. Beloved wife of Michael Smith, they were married September 17, 1977. She was born May 3, 1957, in Grafton, MA, daughter of the late Gerald Sr. and Rita (Picard) Schofield.
At the time of her death, Deb was an administrative assistant in the development office at the College of the Holy Cross. Prior to the College of the Holy Cross, she worked in the development office at Hyde School in Woodstock, CT. Her career included a para professional position for Woodstock Public Schools.
Deborah was a loving wife, mother and proud grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was so proud of her two sons and loved traveling all over New England to attend their sporting events. She enjoyed decorating her home, knitting, crafting, reading, gardening and sewing projects. She loved visiting country shops and going out for a ride in their 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.
Deborah is survived by her husband Michael, her two children Daniel Smith and his wife Nicole of Cheshire, CT, Timothy Smith and his wife Jennifer of Orwell, VT, her four grandchildren, Isobel, Liam, Grant and Forest and a fifth granddaughter due in mid-February. She is also survived by her brother Gerald Schofield, Jr. and his wife Susan of Woodstock, CT, sister-in-law Sharon Hansen and her husband Bruce, sister-in-law Kelly Lundstrom and her husband Gary, brother-in-law Steven Smith and his wife Denise, brother-in-law Bernard Smith and his partner Debra and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St Mary’s Church, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT. Burial in Elmvale Cemetery will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center.
ERRACE 2022~ Everyone Ride/Run Against Cancer Everyday
ERRACE—Everyone Ride/Run Against Cancer Everyday, is a one-day event that will held at the Avon Cancer Center on Saturday, July 16, 2022 and will include a 25, 50, or 100-mile bike ride, and a 5 km run/walk. The beneficiaries are the Hartford HealthCare Grey Cancer Institute. 2022 marks the 13th Year Anniversary for ERRACE!
The ERRACE organization was created by a group of professionals with common goals. Together we strive to raise the awareness of cancer, raise funds for cancer research and to inspire the community to be active and health conscious.
We bring together our expertise from multiple aspects of business management, healthcare, community work, fund-raising and athletic endeavors. We are excited to share a fun, safe and inspiring event with the community for years to come.
