Hello Everyone,
I firmly believe that the growth of school mountain bike leagues, and the soaring numbers of participants we are seeing there, is the biggest and best step I've seen towards the development and growth in the sport of mountain biking. This is not just development in the upper echelons of racing, but the nuturing and growth of mountain biking as a source of life-long enjoyment and a gateway to a healthy lifestyle.
I was lucky enough in high school, after unsuccessful attempts at being good at any of the "traditional" school sports, to find myself taken in by the local shop devo team where I found the calling of riding and racing my bike to be an all consuming passion. The growth of interscholastic teams and racing in the country over the past several years has expanded the likelihood that other kids out there will have the same experience I did, maybe becoming professional racers, or maybe just finding that the joy that comes from ripping through the woods on a bike is something that will never, ever, get old.
As part of doing the Trans-Sylvania Epic Stage Race again this year I have teamed up with the promoters and a number of other participants to help fund raise for the PA Interscholastic cycling league. I'm strtiving, at the bare minimum, to raise $1000 for them, and would greatly appreciate any donation you might make to meet this goal. Thanks in advance!
Please contact me directly for more information about my efforts to raise money for the PA Interscholastic Cycling League and to help put #pakidsonbikes.
All net proceeds from the fund raising effort will be directed to the PA League. Help me and the OEO make the inaugural season of the PA Interscholastic League a smashing success! Donate to #TSE4PICL and put #morekidsonbikes!
The PA League and all other NICA Leagues share 5 Core Principles:
Inclusivity
Equality
Strong Body
Strong Mind
Strong Character
These are the key elements to our effort. This league is open to any student in 6th-12th grade. Everyone is welcome to take part. Everyone counts. No one "sits the bench."
Our primary focus is for our participants to experience the fun of this sport and the benefits it conveys to mind, body and character for life. Additionally, community service through trail advocacy will be a key component of the PA League effort state-wide.
The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League is a non-profit 501(c)3 NICA Project League. The league as one of the largest first year leagues in NICA history with close to 300 riders participating in our first season. Our goal is to provide fun, safe, and competitive mountain biking opportunities for middle & high school students in the Commonwealth. The league also provides structured training programs for prospective coaches, riders, and school officials.
With the cooperation of our staff, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and you we will continue to grow and expand this educational, character building, and fun mountain bike experience throughout our state.
The Outdoor Experience Organization and Trans-Sylvania Epic are proud to support the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League. Net proceeds from the fundraising effort will be donated to the PA League by the OEO.
