As many of you know, I'm a very active person, unfortunately with all of my back problems running isn't really an option for me. I picked up biking and have since decided to combine my love of biking with my love of charity and not only am I participating in the Bike MS ride in New York City this fall, but have decided to support my favorite hockey team and all the wonderful local Philadelphia charities they support as well. The event will take place on July 16 beginning at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia for any of you who want to come out and support! I'll be riding for 50 kilometers (31 miles)!
The Flyers promote many charities that support kids. These organizations include the Center for Autism, the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, Mission Kids, Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia, and Simon’s Fund. I feel especially connected to this ride as I've been a nanny for so long, helping mold tiny developing humans. I hope the money I raise here will help children grow up and become Flyers fans too!

Toyota Flyers Charity Classic
Join the Toyota Flyers for a new Philadelphia-wide event this July, the Toyota Flyers Charity Classic! Hit the street on feet or bike and stay active this summer as families, athletes, and Flyers fans of all ages ride, walk, or run down Broad Street and beyond.
Participants can choose to take part in one of four different events:
· 5K Walk/Run - Runners and walkers will start at the Wells Fargo Center complex and run through the scenic Navy Yard, returning to the Wells Fargo Center to cross the finish line.
· 10-Mile Family Bike Ride - Riders will begin by biking from the Wells Fargo Center complex to Broad Street, cycling up to and around City Hall before passing by Logan Square and the Philadelphia Museum of Art along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Bikers will then ride along the Schuylkill River Trail until they hit South Street, eventually returning to Broad Street, en route to the Wells Fargo Center.
· 50K Bike Ride - Cyclists will start their ride at the Wells Fargo Center complex and travel north on Broad Street to and around City Hall, passing Logan Square and the Philadelphia Museum of Art as they continue down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Cyclists will then continue the ride on Martin Luther King Drive until they hit Fairmount Park and pedal towards Bala Cynwyd before reaching the halfway point at West Mill Creek Park. On the way back to South Philadelphia, riders will travel alongside the Schuylkill River via Main Street in Manayunk, Martin Luther King Drive, and the Schuylkill River Trail, until they turn on South Street, finally returning to the Wells Fargo Center.
· 100K Bike Ride - Participants will pedal out of the Wells Fargo Center complex and hit Broad Street, traveling north to and around City Hall, before riding down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to pass the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Riders will then continue along Martin Luther King Drive before cutting through Fairmount Park. From there, the route will lead out to Malvern before looping back around past Villanova and across the Schuylkill River into Manayunk. Crossing back over the river at Kelly Drive, participants will follow the Schuylkill all the way to South Street, ultimately returning to Broad Street to make their return to the Wells Fargo Center.
Funds raised from the Toyota Flyers Charity Classic will benefit Flyers Charities and the Flyers Alumni Association. Both organizations support a multitude of worthy non-profits across the Greater Philadelphia Region.
Entry fees vary by course, with the 5K Walk/Run at $50 per person, 10 mile Family Bike Ride at $50 per person or $100 for a family of four (children under 16), and both the 50K and 100K bike rides at the early bird rate of $100 per cyclist, through May 31st.

$1,000 – pair of Flyers tickets in the Alumni Party Suite, a Flyers jersey autographed by the Flyers Alumni + Flyers Ball Cap
*tickets will be for a mutually agreed upon Philadelphia Flyers home game in October of the 2018/19 hockey season.

For over 40 years, Flyers Charities has raised more than $30 million to support a multitude of worthy non-profit organizations across the Greater Philadelphia Region that provide educational and recreational resources to underserved youth, engage important medical and healthcare research, and positively influence the community. These organizations include the Center for Autism, the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Liberty USO, Mission Kids, PAWS, Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia, and Simon’s Fund.
Founded in 1984 as the Philadelphia Legends, the non-profit Flyers Alumni Association has raised approximately $14 million for a variety of charitable, civic, educational, and other worthy causes that directly benefit those in need throughout the Philadelphia metropolitan area, including St. John's Hospice, Ronald McDonald House Southern New Jersey, March of Dimes, and Junior Achievement of Delaware. In 2016, the Flyers Alumni announced a new initiative to honor the late Ed Snider by building a new community ice rink. Working together with the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, the Alumni have pledged to raise $2 million toward the construction and completion of what will be called the Edward M. Snider Ice Rink.
