Hello, pals!
On December 5, I will be one of the thousands of crazy people running 3.2 miles (a 5K for you obsessive metric types) in the bitter cold. I like to up the ante by running in shorts.
Why? Because I love courting disaster in the bitter cold. But also because it's the annual Hot Chocolate Run to benefit Safe Passage. Yes! I'm paying for this experience AND there are people who organize such practices in joint-jarring, lung-sucking exercise.
Despite the above description, it's a great event that raises funds for Safe Passage, an organization in Northampton, MA that provides comprehensive, free services to women and children who have experienced domestic violence.
It's an organization that holds a special place in the hearts of Jaime and me. Jaime worked for them right out of college for several years. And I have had the privilege of emceeing various fundraising events for them including this race. All of this to say, we have both seen the life-changing effects of the work of Safe Passage. We have witnessed lives saved and, just as important, souls begin to heal through these Safe Passage folks' relentless dedication and commitment.
This year I'm raising the bar on my run with a fundraising goal of $500. I hope you’ll make a donation and help me make it. All money raised goes to support Safe Passage’s counseling, advocacy and shelter services, and all contributions are tax deductible.
Heck, you can run too! Go on. I dare you. If you want to register for the event or learn more about it, visit

Thank you so much for your support! I know you hear it all the time but you're awesome.
Love,
Kels
