Thanks for visiting my Hot Chocolate Run fundraising page! This year’s event is on Sunday, December 5 in downtown Northampton. The event is the largest annual fundraising event for Safe Passage, the nonprofit organization I work for.
Safe Passage serves women and children who have experienced domestic violence. Our services include an emergency shelter for women and families who have fled abuse, counseling and support groups, and legal advocacy.
When I started at Safe Passage six years ago, nearly 80% of our expenses were funded with state and federal contracts. This year, the percentage is under 60%. As Director of Development, I work hard to raise the money Safe Passage needs to maintain our services in the face of these cuts. This year, we need to raise about $250,000. The Hot Chocolate Run is a huge part of this.
This event was started in 2004, a couple months after I started my job at Safe Passage. We had no idea how large the event would become. This year, we’re expecting 5,000 runners and walkers who will help us raise $100,000.
I'm really proud of this event and it's one of the best things about my job. I get to work with a group of amazing volunteers who help make the event really fun and successful.
I hope you'll consider making a donation in support of this event and help me meet my fundraising goal! I'll be too busy on December 5 to run or walk—I'll have a full day of working to make sure everyone has a great time—but I'd love your support anyway! All money raised goes to support Safe Passage’s services for women and children who have experienced domestic violence, and all contributions are tax deductible.
Please make a donation and help me meet my fundraising goal. All money raised helps to support Safe Passage’s comprehensive, FREE services for women and children in Hampshire County, and all contributions are tax deductible.
