On Saturday, June 19th, I will be riding 100 miles in the Ride for Mental Health to benefit vital mental health research and services at McLean Hospital. I was not a “serious” cyclist until I started participating in this event several years ago, and one of my key motivators in cycling is to train specifically for this event. My other key motivator is the support and fundraising sponsorship I receive from all of you!
These are difficult times for all of us – and besides the health, social and economic challenges we all face – there are mental health challenges facing us as well. Indeed, 36% of Americans report that the COVID Pandemic has made a serious impact on their mental health in some way; for those already struggling with mental health issues, the impact on these indiviuals and their families can be even more profound.
At the heart of McLean is a mission to help those impacted by mental illness with compassion, collaboration between families and clinicians, and innovative, personalized treatment.
Here are just some of the ways in which McLean Hospital helps improve the lives of individuals and families impacted by mental health issues:
• Individualized care from committed and collaborative clinicians and staff.
• Thought leadership in the mental health field that has helped make McLean the #1 psychiatric hospital in the U.S.
• A strong research and training partnership with Harvard Medical School.
• A commitment to research and discovery, which translates directly to meaningful impact in patients’ lives.
• Efforts to shape conversations and public perceptions about mental health through educational and community outreach, such as McLean’s Deconstructing Stigma initiative.
Please consider sponsoring me to support this important cause!
Be Well and Stay Safe!

The Ride for Mental Health 2020
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.
We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start. Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
Eric's Ride Inc. is a New York not for profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. 100% of rider pledges will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate.
