Hello friends and family!

Competing in the VT 100 was a challenge that I looked forward to meeting this summer. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has cacenled this year's event. Fortunately, my spot will be held for next year's race. However, Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sport will take a big hit as a result since this is their biggest fundraiser for the year. As a volunteer skipper for Horizon's Adaptive Sailing here in Portland, I know how much programs like Vermont Adaptive and Horizons mean to people who need a little extra assistance to meet the challenge that brings health, fun and passion to their lives.

Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports provides sports and recreational programs as well as wellness and environmental retreats to people with disabilities. Their programs are offered to people of all ages, with a variety of disabilities. Programs include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and Nordic in the winter; and sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, horseback riding, and more in the warmer months.

Despite the dissapointment I have continue to train hard this summer setting several endurance challege gaols for myself to stay motivated and fit and just enjoy moving in the outdoors. This weekend, in honor of the VT-100, I will tick off one of them - my first  century bike ride here in southern Maine.

Vermont 100 has encouraged regidstrants to keep the spirit alive by fundraising for Vermont Adaptive as they embark on solo challenges this weekend en lieu of the actual event. While I will miss my first 100 miler running race I am excited to go for 100 miles on my good old Bridgestone XO-1. Please consider donating what you can to help me reach my goal and help Vermont Adaptive meet their goal too!

Thank you!

George
