Hi;
As many of you know I have had a brush with mental health issues in the past and have been a strong advocate since.
I am participating in this ride as it is a great way to open the door to conversations regarding mental health and lift the associated stigma that is still so common today in some professions.
To me mental health became one of the most important aspects of my life and helping raise money towards finding better treatment and getting people access to help they need in a time of crisis is of upmost importance to me.
With respect to a fundraising and mileage goal, as this ride is set up different this year than a traditional weekend or week event and goes until September I decided to set myself a 1000km goal along with a $1000.00 fundraising goal. I am tracking all of my rides on Strava to get an accurate mileage.
Thank you for supporting me in this quest as this is my first time that I am putting myself out there to do something like this!
One note, the donations are in US, please keep that in mind when donating, we figured that out the hard way.
Marc
The Ride for Mental Health 2020
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.
We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start. Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
Eric's Ride Inc. is a New York not for profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. 100% of rider pledges will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate.
