This is my fourth year participating in annual Will Bike 4 Food and will be the second time I've done it while volunteering at their partner organization, the Amherst Food Pantry. Welcome to my fundraising page!
This is a fun cyling event that helps feed our neighbors in need and end hunger in western Mass. by raising funds and awareness for The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Every $1 can provide 4 meals for a local family who needs them most. Contributions of any size to my efforts are appreciated. 100% of your donation (excepting unavoidable credit card fees) will go to support The Food Bank's mission notwithstanding). All donations are tax deductible. Thank you!
Due to the pandemic--which makes the need for food support stronger--this year's ride will be virtual. That doesn't mean that I'll be watching scenery go by on YouTube. Rather, instead of a peloton, each participant will be pedaling on their own and arranging their own support. I'm going to take this as an opportunity to make it a bit more like the old cents-per-mile Walks for Hunger: the more people pledge, the farther I will ride.
For the first $250 pledged, I will ride one mile for each $4. For the next $750, one mile per $20, reaching the normal WB4F distance of 100 miles at my target of $1000. At that point, I'll do something fairly close to the normal route. Beyond that, one mile per $30 up to $1300, one mile per $70 to $2000, and one mile per $100 to $3000 and 130 miles, which is definitely long enough that I will be trying to find the flattest possible route. If people come through and give me more than that, I'll add one mile for each additional 5%, up to 150 miles (ack!) at $8000, I should be so lucky.

Since 1982, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been feeding our neighbors in need and leading the community to end hunger. We distribute food to our member agencies in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties. These independent pantries, meal sites and shelters are on the front lines of emergency food assistance in our region, playing a crucial role helping individuals, families, seniors and children. Every $1 donated to The Food Bank can purchase 4 meals for a family who needs them most.
