My name is Dahiana Fuentes. I will be running the 2020 Manchester half Marathon. This will be my first time ever running a half Marathon.

I tent to incorporate small runs throughout the week, but mainly during the nice weather. About two years ago I started increasing my the length of my runs and ran 7 miles. This year I started running again to see if I can better myself. I started hiking and realized how much I love hiking. I read reviews from others talking about how they hike and ran 12 miles. One crazy morning I decided that I was going to run ten miles and see how long it will take me to finish. The first time I ran ten miles, it took me three hours. I messaged my friend and asked her how long it took her to run 10 miles. I was in shcoked  when she said that it wook her1 hour and 40 minutes. So, I continued running and I tried running ten miles again with the hope that I could finish in 2.5 hours. To my surprise, I finished in 2 hours and 15 minutes. At that moment, I told myself that one day in the future, I will run a ½ marathon. I guess that “in the future” meant now for me since my good friend asked me to join her and run this ½ marathon. Of course, I said yes knowing that I have about 4 weeks to train.

Running the ½ marathon will definitely be a challenge for, me as I have never done this, but it will be a pleasure. We all hear stories and see some of our veterans who come back from war and struggle with many different obstacles. I think anything that we can do support  them counts. Veterans risk their lives for all of us to ensure our freedom. I think is important to help them in their journey once they are back home. Veterans should not struggle with homelessness or lack of medical support, but unfortunately this is the reality for some of them. So help me raise money to support our veterans.

Thanks for visiting my Manchester Marathon fundraising page!

On November 8, 2020 I’ll be honoring the brave service men and women AND our first responders who defend our freedom by running the Manchester Marathon.

All proceeds of the race will benefit Veterans Count, a program of Easterseals, which provides emergency financial assistance for veterans, service members and their families when no other resource is available.

All proceeds of the race will benefit Veterans Count, the philanthropic arm of Easterseals Military & Veterans Services (MVS), which provides financial assistance for services for veterans, service members and their families when no other resource is available.

Over the past 13 years, MVS, with financial support from Veterans Count, has served more than 14,000 individuals suicide risk, unemployment, homelessness, substance misuse, legal concerns, and mental health issues. MVS supports families through a Care Coordination model and provides financial assistance for food, utilities, housing, transportation, fuel, and vehicle repair, and more!
