Our mission: We believe that many parents are unaware of the negative and potentially dangerous side effects of ADHD medication, both physically and mentally. These parents are also unaware of the positive effects that exercise, nutrition, and healthy sleep habits can have on their children’s ability to cope with their disease. Over 7 million children every year are diagnosed with ADHD, and this number is likely growing each year. The following statement is from the Specialized Foundation. “A growing body of research has shown that exercise can lead to benefits, like improved thinking, greater happiness, decreased anxiety and depression, and better academic performance. In addition to this, studies have shown that moderate-to-vigorous exercise enhances executive and motor functioning, which are skills that are impaired in children with ADHD.” As ADHD America Ambassadors we hope to better inform the families of students and young adults of these alternatives, or at the very least lifestyle supplements, to medication.
ADHD America is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Through the development of a Digital Therapeutic smartphone application (ADHDmyway), our aim is to provide an ADHD “Virtual Coach” to guide proper study habits, nutrition guidance, exercise advice, and more. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of those struggling with the effects of this disorder.
