For the first time since October, 2019, I am back getting ready to race! On May 22, the 12 Hour US National Time Trial Championship is being held near Frederick, MD. Athletes are asked to help the event raise additional funds for the charity Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership (SHIP) in Frederick County. Imagine trying to be a child, learning in school, enduring a pandemic, and homeless. SHIP works hard to serve these children.
This is the first time I have announced a charity fundraise for my races, but this one strikes my heart. Know that whatever you pledge will inspire me to ride harder, ride longer, and never give up fighting for the children. $10, $20 or more--whatever you can offer will be fuel in my engine as I attempt to defend my 2019 championship on my amazing Cruzbike recumbent. Thank you in advance.

Maryland Endurance Challenge
Maryland Endurance Challenge to benefit SHIP
With the start and finish held at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, this event attracts cycling enthusiasts from across the county. Featuring ride lengths of 12, 6, or 3 hour rides, this event drew over 100 bike riders in its inaugural year. Endorsed by the UltraMarathon Cycling Association, the Maryland Endurance Challenge was included in World Cup of Ultra Cycling 12-hour and 6-Hour Series.
Our Mission
SHIP provides urgent services and resources to the hundreds of Frederick County Public School (MD) students experiencing homelessness each year.
Poverty and homelessness are pervasive within our schools, with these children significantly impacted across every dimension their lives. These children can be found in every city, hamlet and village within Frederick County, and within the vast majority of schools within our school system. This issue cuts across grades and all ethnic lines. And sadly, the numbers continue to grow each year.
