On November 7, 2021 I’ll be running in the Manchester Marathon, a 26.2 mile course through the downtown Mill District, through city neighborhoods and out & back on a rail trail. This will be my second Marathon in as many months. I am attempting to do something difficult and find out what my mind and body can do.
The men and women in uniform in this country can be asked to do something very difficult at the drop of a hat. When they do, they serve with competence and valor. What happens when they leave the service? Sometimes, those "difficult events" - what they did, what they saw, what they heard - have lasting effects beyond their time in the service. Veterans need and deserve our help. Pledging to my page is one way you can do so.
All proceeds of the race will benefit Veterans Count, the philanthropic arm of Easterseals Military & Veterans Services (MVS), which provides financial assistance for services for service members, veterans and their families when no other resource is available.
Over the past 15 years, MVS, with financial support from Veterans Count, has served more than 17,500 individuals suicide risk, unemployment, homelessness, substance misuse, legal concerns, and mental health issues. MVS supports families through a Care Coordination model and provides financial assistance for food, utilities, housing, transportation, fuel, and vehicle repair, and more!
Thank you for supporting me in my effort to complete a second marathon and thank you for supporting our Veterans through your pledge.
Sincerely,
Mark
