I remember the intense feeling of freedom and excitement riding with my friends growing up in Roanoke VA. Except for that time I was showing off 'No Hands!' and ran into the basketball goal in the driveway. That hurt.
After years of not riding for reasons I can't imagine, I got back into it and have met scores of great people, improved my health (physical and mental), and to this day, I still get that feeling of freedom when I'm riding. Hard, easy, hills, flats - it doesn't matter. What a great way to improve your outlook on life!
Supporting this organization by riding and raising funds is a win-win for me and I hope that some of the meager amount that I raise will help someone.
Join me in supporting the Ride for Mental Health and I hope to see you out on the road or trails sometime soon.
All the best!
The Ride for Mental Health 2023
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.
We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start. Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
