On Saturday, August 17, 2013 I will bike up Mount Washington, a 7.6 mile all-uphill race to the summit of the highest peak in the northeastern United States. The Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb is the largest annual fundraiser for Tin Mountain Conservation Center.
I have dedicated this entire year to training for this strenuous event and the goal of climbing Mt Washington has been a personal goal for me for more than 8 years. This climb is tough. The average grade of the climb is 11% (thats an AVERAGE!!) with max sections at 20%. There are no flats spots and we will be pedaling up a really steep hill for over 90 minutes (hopefully less!).
Tin Mountain Conservation Center has provided environmental education to over 75,000 students, campers and individuals throughout schools and communities in northern New Hampshire and western Maine for over 32 years. We are asked to raise funds for this organization as part of our participation.
You can help me support a great environmental organization, Tin Mountain Conservation Center, which has provided environmental education to over 75,000 students, campers and individuals throughout schools and communities in Northern New Hampshire and western Maine for over 32 years.
Tin Mountain Conservation Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing education programs that foster greater awareness and understanding of the natural environment for school children, adults, and families. Since it was founded in 1980 by Barbara Rockwell Henry and David Henry in Jackson, NH, the Center has offered hands-on programs in the schools, at summer camps, and within communities throughout northern New Hampshire and western Maine. Each year Tin Mountain works with over 5,000 in public and private school, in addition to its homeschool programs. To see a sample of our work with students, click here.
