Hello friends and family!
100 miles is long enough. So I'll keep this brief(ish).
On Saturday, July 20, I will line up to start my 7th Vermont 100 Endurance Race, and the #1 reason I’m going back again is the cause and community it supports.
100% of event proceeds from the Vermont 100 and EVERY donation made by generous folks like you go directly to Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports, a nationally recognized nonprofit that provides accessible and inclusive year-round recreational programming to kids, adults, and veterans living with seen and unseen disabilities, regardless of their ability to pay.
This means those who might otherwise be limited by their circumstances are instead empowered to live fuller, freer lives through opportunities and experiences like adaptive skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, horseback riding, wellness retreats, and more.
I have spent nearly eight months training for this year’s race – preparing my head, heart, and feet – and I'm lucky Erin has been beside me for most of my miles, will crew me for the first 70, and plans to run with me for the final 30 as we work our way toward another hopeful 100 finish … But I still need your help! Will you join me from the sidelines in support of Vermont Adaptive?
Please consider giving what you can to help me reach my goal for Vermont Adaptive. Your donation will go towards purchasing adaptive sports equipment, training volunteers, providing scholarships for participation, and ultimately giving the gift of greater independence and self-confidence to more beautiful people. Thank you for sharing any amount you can, and no matter what I’ll be thinking of you on race day as I give it my best for another year running.
With love and gratitude,
Alex

IT'S THE GREATEST THING
“I think Vermont Adaptive is the most underrated thing in the entire world. It’s the greatest thing. It’s the coolest program. I have a friend whose daughter has Usher syndrome, so she was born deaf and is losing her vision. We all went up skiing at Sugarbush with Vermont Adaptive and it was the greatest time. His daughter still can’t stop talking about it. What Vermont Adaptive does for any person who is eligible is insane. You can’t put words to it. It’s freeing, it normalizes folks. We all got our Vermont Adaptive gear because we’re so proud of it.”

DID YOU KNOW
Since 1987, the Vermont 100 and its partner race, the Vermont 50 (held every September), have been two of the most impactful annual fundraisers for Vermont Adaptive — helping generate over $2,000,000 in lifetime support — AND in 2017, the Vermont 100 became the world’s first trail and ultra race to formally recognize visually and mobility impaired runners in their own awards category (Athletes with Disabilities). This decision continues to complement VT100’s fundraising goals for Vermont Adaptive and industry leading DEI policies.
