On August 10, 2024, I hope to once again take part in the ODRAM (One Day Ride Across Michigan) event, riding about 160 miles in one day from Meinert Beach on Lake Michigan to Bay City on Lake Huron.  Along with hundreds of riders from around the world, I will ride for the fun of it, and to raise money for Breakthrough T1D (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or JDRF), the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.

What do you need to know about T1D? It:

- Strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle;

- Occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin is essential to turning food into energy; and

 - Requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on injected insulin.

Breakthrough T1D is working every day to change this. And every dollar I raise helps them continue to bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the community until a cure is found.

Your gift today will ensure that I will do something I love while also doing good. Please donate and help Breakthrough T1D achieve its goal of a world without T1D.

Please check back to view my fundraising progress as my ODRAM weekend approaches. Thank you for your support.
