Running for Cancer Connection & in Honor of Those We've Lost
On April 3rd, I celebrated 11 years as a cancer survivor—a milestone I never take for granted. My journey through chemo, surgeries, and recovery was tough, but I was never alone. Many of my friends and family members came to support me on the most intense ride of my life. The Cancer Connection was there, offering free services that gave me comfort, strength, and hope during my darkest days.
This year, I am running in the Mother’s Day Half Marathon not just as a survivor, but in honor of my dear friend Terry Everett, my friend Jo Jo who passed away from cancer on March 1st, another dear soul who was part of making my cancer journey a success who has just been diagnosed, and a neighbor we lost just weeks ago. Their courage, love, and spirit stay with me every step of this run. I am a trail runner, you will rarely see me on the road! This is a big physical commitment for me and I need your support.
Sadly, we all know someone who has battled this beast. Cancer touches too many lives, and no one should have to face it alone.
