Dear friends and community - thank you for visiting my Hot Chocolate Run fundraising page!  I started working at Safe Passage as a member of the relief staff this year and it's been a huge blessing to get to know this amazing organization and all the wonderful people who are part of its community. I'm really excited to be running in it this year - I've never run a 5K before and through training for it (thanks to everyone who's been going on runs with me!) I've discovered that I love running which was something I didn't know about myself.

Working at the shelter I've been able to witness how important Safe Passage's healing and life-saving services are. The Hot Chocolate Run literally makes the work possible - it provides a huge percentage of the organization's budget. Abuse and domestic violence is something that has affected my life and the lives of people I've loved and it's powerful and inspiring to be part of a community that is working to support safety and healing for survivors.

Since 1977, Safe Passage has helped thousands of women and families achieve safety, build justice, and rebuild their lives in the wake of domestic violence. The organization's work is based in a larger vision of social change, seeing the work against domestic violence as part of the work to dismantle all forms of oppression, and strives to be survivor-centered.
