Thanks for visiting my Hot Chocolate Run fundraising page! On December 8, I will run in my first 5K, and for a great cause--the 10th Annual Hot Chocolate Run. This event raises funds for Safe Passage, the organization addressing domestic violence in Hampshire County. Will you join me in supporting this terrific organization?
This is a particularly important cause for me, as I spent part of my early childhood in a similar shelter. Thanks to the work of that shelter, my mother was able to break the cycle of violence in my life so that I have grown up in a safe, loving environment, and so that my brother and I received solid mentorship. It was never easy for my mother, but we are the better for all of her efforts, and would not be where we are today without the help of people willing to work with us. Please make it possible for others to share in a similar fate.
Here are some ways Safe Passage will put your gift to work:
$25: Resources, support and hope for a woman calling the 24-hour hotline
$75: Safe transportation for a family traveling to Safe Passage’s emergency shelter
$80: A drop-in support group session for survivors of domestic violence
$140: Education for parents on talking with their kids about domestic violence
$500: Healing counseling for a child who has witnessed violence

Safe Passage is the organization in Hampshire County building safety, hope and justice for families who have lived with domestic violence. Adults and kids come to Safe Passage for a variety of programs: an emergency shelter, counseling and support groups, legal advocacy, and so much more.
