Thanks for visiting my HOT CHOCOLATE RUN fundraising page! On December 8, 2013, I'm running in the 10th Annual Hot Chocolate Run. I am proud (and a little nervous) that this will be my very first 5K race. The event raises funds for Safe Passage, an organization addressing domestic violence in Hampshire County, MA. I'm excited to be part of it this year!

This event is very personal to me, as it is to many of us. I know the value of programs such as Safe Passage - the critical lifeline they provide. I run in gratitude. I run for survivors whom I know and love. I also run in memory of Eastern Connecticut State University student Alyssiah Wiley, who was murdered in May 2013 by her former boyfriend. She was a bright light, gone far too early. RIP.

Every day, Safe Passage helps women and children take steps towards a brighter and safer future, so before I run, I’ve decided to Step Up for Safe Passage. I’m asking you to join me. Please make a donation to support Safe Passage’s important work. Safe Passage relies on people like you and me to bring hope, safety, and justice to women and families.

Here are some ways Safe Passage will put your gift to work:
$25: Resources, support and hope for a woman calling the 24-hour hotline
$75: Safe transportation for a family traveling to Safe Passage’s emergency shelter
$80: A drop-in support group session for survivors of domestic violence
$140: Education for parents on talking with their kids about domestic violence
$500: Healing counseling for a child who has witnessed violence
