Because I had so much fun last year (photographic proof to your left), on December 7 I'm participating in the 11th Annual Hot Chocolate Run. This great event raises funds for Safe Passage, the organization addressing domestic violence in Hampshire County (where I live, work and "train").
I have two goals this year:
1. Finish at least sixth from dead last (last year I finished fifth from dead last, thank you very much--please hold your applause)
2. Raise at least $200 (I raised $111 last year, which I am incredibly thankful for)

The rest of this is what Safe Passage puts in. It really is a fantastic organization, and the hot chocolate at the end of the run really is the best you could ever hope to have. Really.

$30: Resources, support and hope for a woman calling the 24-hour hotline
$55: A survivor's first counseling session. For many of Safe Passage's clients, this is the first time they've felt heard. It's the first time in years that they've felt hopeful.
$120: A drop-in support group session for survivors of domestic violence
$225: Information, advice and support for a survivor facing a divorce or custody dispute
$500: Healing counseling for a child who has witnessed violence

Safe Passage is the organization in Hampshire County building safety, hope and justice for families who have lived with domestic violence. Adults and kids come to Safe Passage for a variety of programs: an emergency shelter, counseling and support groups, legal advocacy, and so much more.
