Thanks for visiting my Hot Chocolate Run/Walk fundraising page! On Sunday, December 7, Scott and I will be participating in the 11th Annual Hot Chocolate Run/Walk for Safe Passage (he runs, I walk--sadly, Jonah won't be able to join us this year as he will still be away at college in St. Louis, but above is a photo of us after they both ran and I walked last year). This tremendous community event raises essential funds for Safe Passage, the organization that provides crucial domestic violence victim/survivor services here in Hampshire County where we live.
Before I walk (and Scott runs), I’ve decided to Step Up for Safe Passage, and I’m asking you to join me. Please make a donation OF ANY SIZE (really, truly--every $1 adds up!) to support Safe Passage’s important work. Safe Passage relies on people like you and me to bring hope, safety, and justice to women and families.
Once again I am making my 'shameless birthday appeal' (I am turning 54, hence the $540 goal) in asking friends and family to please consider making a contribution out of the goodness of your heart, in honor of my birthday, which always falls around the time of the event, or in honor/memory of someone else--whatever moves you!! Will you please join me in supporting this terrific organization?
Every day, Safe Passage helps survivors of domestic violence take steps toward a brighter and safer future. Some of these steps are easier, and some are harder. Every step is important.
Here are some ways that Safe Passage will put your gift to work:
$30: Resources, support and hope for a woman calling the 24-hour hotline
$55: A survivor's first counseling session. For many of Safe Passage's clients, this is the first time they've felt heard. It's the first time in years that they've felt hopeful.
$120: A drop-in support group session for survivors of domestic violence
$225: Information, advice and support for a survivor facing a divorce or custody dispute
$500: Healing counseling for a child who has witnessed violence
All contributions are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an emailed receipt immediately after you donate.
You truly can make a difference for families affected by domestic violence. This event has become a lifeline for Safe Passage and those they serve--I hope that you’ll join me!
Thank you so much for your support! Last year you helped me nearly double my fundraising goal, and I am hopeful that together we can again help provide Safe Passage with much needed resources.
***** If you prefer to donate by check, please make checks out to "Safe Passage" and mail to me at 95 Maynard Rd., Northampton, MA 01060. I will collect all checks to turn in with their required check donation log form. Thanks!
