In 2005, I was fortunate enough to survive a major heart attack. Each year I am looking to cherish the fact that I am still alive and walking this earth. Last year, I had the pleasure to work with people with the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia and learned of many stories of people with Epilepsy. I have been touched with the value of service dogs to people with epilepsy. It is amazing how a seizure service dog can help someone with epilepsy. It can provide parents or caretakers needed rest as the dog keeps watch through the night for seizures. It can provide someone with needed companionship. It can alert others of a seizure. They can even be trained to press a button that alerts 911 of a seizure.
EFVA does many things to help people with Epilepsy. From education, to supporting families in covering the cost of medication, to providing grants to those raising funds for seizure dog. All of these are worthy causes, and is the reason I am asking you to help the EFVA as they go out and make a difference in Virginia. Help is on it's way...
