Hello friends and family!
I'm once again taking on the VT100 mile race in 2021! This will be my 9th year being involved in this awesome event, and I am super jazzed about it! This will also mark my 6th year participating on Team Run 2 Empower, a group of like-minded crazies who are fundraising for Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports (VASS). While I am able to lace up my shoes and go for a run whenever I want, there are people out there for whom just getting out to walk can be a challenge. People who need a little extra assistance to meet the challenge that brings health, fun and passion to their lives. Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports provides access to sports and recreational programs as well as environmental and wellness retreats to people with disabilities, regardless of their ability to pay. Their programs are offered to people of all ages, with a wide variety of disabilities. Programs include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and Nordic in the winter; and sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, horseback riding, and more in the warmer months. They also have a growing Veteran's program, which empowers and connects our nation's Military Veterans through outdoor activities...I'm proud to support a charity that gives back to those who have sacrificed to protect our rights.
I am super passionate about this amazing charity, as I have seen firsthand the amazing joy, independence and confidence that adaptive sports programs can offer. I dedicate my training and racing miles every year to my WingMan Nick, who has been able to participate in so much more thanks to adaptive programming for both him and his family...you wouldn't know it to meet this kid, but he started his life with the very scary and very real prognosis of never being able to walk, let alone run...but he has come so far and now you can hardly keep up with him! I've had the personal blessing to have connected w/Nick and his beautiful family, and I'm telling you, they have never taken for granted one minute of this life and are truly grateful for the incredible generosity of people like you who help make these opportunities happen!
Please consider donating what you can to help Vermont Adaptive meet their fundraising goals. From the bottom of my soles, I thank you very much!!
