Hi. My name is Erik and this year I am returning to the ride for a second year. We are riding under the team name "Team Logan" in honor of my son Logan who has been struggling with ADHD, depression, and anxiety. In 2018 we had to hospitalize Logan twice one of those times just two days before Christmas. As you can see in my profile picture 2019 has been a great year for Logan (Center). He has begun playing team sports and participating in group activities and has come a long way in just one year.
After talking with Logan we have decided that we wanted to help continue to #RideAwayTheStigma by riding in honor of the ten NYPD officers who took their own lives in 2019. We have to end the stigma associated with mental health so that people may find the help they need before it is too late.
When I signed up for last years ride I did not expect the support that I received. People came forward to thank us for bringing attention to this cause because a mental health issue has affect themselves or someone close to them. Total strangers pledged their support to me last year being one of the most humbling experiences of my life.
Please help me again this year and together we can all #RideAwayTheStigma. We greatly appreciate your contribution to this worthwhile cause. Thank you for your support!
The Ride for Mental Health 2020
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first rides in the country to benefit mental health. The proceeds raised will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, for the education, research, and treatment of mental illness including anxiety, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse. Our mission is to raise funds for McLean so that we can help accelerate the progress being made to help others who suffer from mental illness.
We also hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness through education and awareness. The promotion of this ride is a start. Many if not most of us are touched by close friends and relatives who have suffered from one type or another of mental illness.
Eric's Ride Inc. is a New York not for profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. 100% of rider pledges will be donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate.
