'The secret of getting ahead is getting started.' ~Mark Twain
Friends, family, neighbors and colleagues,
I’m writing once again, to graciously ask for your support as I gear up for my third charity bike ride: The Ride for Mental Health. A 50-mile bike ride supporting research, education and treatment of mental illness and more importantly helping to fight the stigma associated with mental health.
Mental health issues are real. Currently 20% of all US adults have a form of mental illness. But more importantly, young adults aged 18-25 years have the highest prevalence (29.4%). While we all have a connection to this very serious illness, this ride is personal for me. I have lost family, friends and collegues who suffered from a variety of related illnesses. I promise to cycle hard to gain your support for a more positive, hopeful future for all mental health sufferers.
The Ride for Mental Health is one of the first charity events in the United States with the proceeds going to benefit mental health. Last year The Ride raised $150,000 with 100% of the rider pledges donated to McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate. This year, we are working hard to raise $200,000 for McLean.
And, my personal goal is $1,000.
Please consider providing some much needed hope for the future of those in our lives that live with these issues every day. By clicking on the link below, I welcome donations of any size.
My warmest thanks for your support and consideration,
Christine Marshall-Bradley
