Welcome to my fundraising page for the 11th annual Will Bike 4 Food! This is a fun and active cycling event that helps raise funds and awareness for The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Every $1 raised will provide 4 meals for a neighbor in need. Contributions of any size to my efforts are appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. Thank you!
I, personally, have never experienced food insecurity during my life so I can't say that I can relate. However, I think that it is our responsibility as a society to make sure that all of our brothers and sisters have food, housing, and everything else that some of us may take for granted. While living in Haiti and in the Congo I had classmates who came to school hungry and, therefore, could not concentrate on their schoolwork. I became recently aware of research that confirms that there is a direct correlation between a student's ability to learn and food insecurity. One nice thing about the Congo is that if you came to school with food in your lunch box, you were expected to share with your classmates who did not have any food to eat during recreation. This sharing built a sense of community and reinforced the fact that we are indeed our brother's (or sister's) keeper.
I don't like asking friends, co-workers, and family members for money but will not hesitate to do so for a good cause such as the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Given all the wealth in this country, no one should ever have to go without food.
Thank you for donating so that our brothers and sisters can have healthy meals!

Since 1982, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been feeding our neighbors in need and leading the community to end hunger. We distribute food to our member agencies in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties. These independent pantries, meal sites and shelters are on the front lines of emergency food assistance in our region, playing a crucial role helping individuals, families, seniors and children. Every $1 donated to The Food Bank can purchase 4 meals for a family who needs them most.
