On July 30 I am running a 32.5-mile Porcupine Mountains Wilderness Loop in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to support research to cure Alzheimer's Disease.  I'm running with my dad as a part of AlzRun, a team of people from all over the country running challenging and magnificent trails to raise money for Cure Alzheimer's Fund.

I am running in memory of my grandad, who died of Alzheimer's when I was a teenager, as well as to honor the boundless love and care for him by my grandma and the rest of my family.  The precious memories I have of Grandad are amplified by their deep love and the impact he had on their lives.  I am also running in memory of my Uncle Dave, and to honor my extended family and their loss.  It means so much to be connected to such compassionate people.

And, of course, it's a gift to run with my Dad, to be a small part of this massive undertaking.  I'm awed by his turning grief into action, into bring people together, and putting into practice how we cross great distances by a series of small steps.

Since this will be the farthest I have ever run, I will need to remind myself of that last part frequently on July 30!

The funds we raise will go directly to Cure Alzheimer's Fund, who have made major strides in our understanding of Alzheimer’s.  They direct 100% of donations toward high-impact research.  Our contributions will make a difference.

I want to be part of breakthroughs that will cure Alzheimer’s.  Please join me.

Thank you for your support!
