This is my second year in a row doing this event, and like last year I'm still riding for my cousin who is currently diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia. Though it is not specifically cancer, he will be going through similar treatments. He is only one of the millions who struggle for sure. But he is my inspiration for strength and kindness. While the funds don't go directly to my cousin I know they will go to those in dire need and to those like him. Feel free to donate if you feel it is right for you or if you have people in your life you want to remember and support. 100% goes right to families/people affected by cancer which means whatever you donate is going to be used by those in need.
Last year our team was able to raise over $8,000 of the total $13,000! This year I'm hoping that the team gets to $10,000 this year! I, myself, am hoping to raise over $1,000 personally. If I do make it to $1,000 in donations then I will switch my ride from the current 25-mile ride to the 50-mile! And if not then I will enjoy the ride either way and honestly every cent helps those in need! I guess it just depends on how hard you want me to work for it ;), and trust me those hills are no joke.
From the Organization's website: "On June 17th, I will be pedaling my way through the pioneer valley to raise money for Bikes Fight Cancer. 100% of all funds raised will support organizations that offer valuable cancer care services to patients, families, and caregivers as well as funding hospitals focused on advancing cancer research."
