I am raising money for The Washoe Cultural and Outdoor Expedition Program and the Dresslerville Red Bear Youth Council of the Washoe Tribe, by running/walking the Siren Run. Please help support this amazing cause!
Siren Run
This is not a race. it is a gathering followed by an optional walk/run.
We will gather in Minden Park at 10:30am and hear some stories about the Minden siren. Afterwards, we will meet in Genoa for a scenic run/walk on Washoe Land. The scenic walk/run begins at the Sierra Canyon Trailhead, and has a short option and a long option. The short option is an out-and-back about 3 miles long, going straight up the Sierra Canyon Trail. The long option takes the same route for the first 1.5 miles, and then proceeds south along the Genoa Loop Trail, through the town of Genoa and looping back up to the Sierra Canyon Trailhead. The long option is about 9.5 miles in total. Again, this is not a race but rather a group run. Participants are encouraged to run or walk at their own pace - there is typically a very wide range of ability levels! The group will stop several times along the route to allow everyone to catch up, eat snacks, and talk about this memorable experience.
Please be aware: the walk/run is completely self supported - participants will need to bring their own water, snacks, sunscreen, bandaids, etc.
Follow our Facebook Event League or visit the Riders Against Racism website for updated info.
If you are unable to attend but are interested in helping us with fundraising for The Washoe Cultural and Outdoor Expedition Program and the Dresslerville Red Bear Youth Council of the Washoe Tribe, please set up your account and share. 100% of the money raised will go to support Washoe youth outdoor programs.
Feel free to reach out to Matt [email protected] or Cathy [email protected] with any questions.
Thanks for your commitment to this important issue!
