This will be my 18th year using my bike to fight cancer—a cause I’ve been dedicated to for nearly two decades. SInce I started riding the PMC in 2008, I’ve always believed in paying it forward, supporting the cancer community with the hope that I’d never need to cash in on that goodwill. But this past year, that changed.
My mother was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lympfoma, a "treatable" form of cancer, and I got to see firsthand the impact of the very organizations that Bikes FIght Cancer has been supporting. She was treated at Mass General and then at Cooley Dickinson and received compassionate care and support from both Cancer House of Hope and Cancer Connection. These organizations gave her more than treatment and resources—they gave her dignity, strength, and a community to lean on during her most difficult moments.
In addition to riding the PMC, I’m proud to lead and organize the Bikes Fight Cancer Charity Ride alongside my amazing husband Johnny. This event brings our community together, and 100% of all rider-raised funds directly support critical cancer care services for patients, families, and caregivers, as well as funding hospitals focused on advancing cancer research.
Of course, I’ll once again be riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge on August 2nd, continuing my commitment to making a difference—mile by mile, year after year.
What was once a mission I believed in is now a personal promise. I ride for my mom. I still ride for Stirling. I ride for hope. I ride so others can receive the same care and compassion when they need it most.
