Brenda’s Battalion
Hello everybody; this is Aidan here. I am currently a subsitute teacher at Saint Columbkille's Partnership School and leader of the History club for the afterschool program. Part of what makes me so passionate about this school is the mark it made on a very important person in my life, and hopefully the other way around, too. My mom Brenda grew up in the aura of our wonderful school, and by all accounts was one of Saint Columbkille's finest to come out of the class of 1981.
Brenda passed away on September 26th, 2023, a great loss that not only continues to devastate me but the numerous friends and family she touched throughout her life. But in her memory I have found that
On April 26, 2025 our team, Brenda's Battalion, will be on campus at Boston College to participate in the 15th Annual BC Race to Educate. All race proceeds support Saint Columbkille Partnership School, a school my mother attended from elementary all the way through to high school graduation. Among the many qualities and achievments that she was known for over her St. Col's years:
-A star student athlete and team player, who at one point earned a Highest Batting Average record for Softball and lead Saint Columbkille's Softball as a captain.
-Finding the courage to try out for, and later star as, the female lead for her senior class musical, "George M!", at Saint Columbkille's. (See the profile photo above.)
-Helping her big sister Kerry and the Class of 1974 Senior Cheerleading Squad cheer on the football team.
-Being a caring and loving friend to all, and someone always eager to share joy with others.
Brenda's experiences at Saint Columbkille's shaped her into the selfless, tenacious and bubbly person she was. The values of her Catholic education would later lead to be a religous education instruction at Saint Mary's of the Assumption Parish in Dedham, MA and a youth softball coach for Dedham Youth Baseball. Most of all, her St. Col's education helped her for her most important role: a loving and dedicated mother and family woman to her very last breath.

Our team recognizes that Brenda lives on through the lives and minds that are enriched through an education at Saint Columbkille's Partnership School. The race proceeds that we raise will ensure that a high quality Catholic education is available to those who seek it, and all contributions are tax-deductible.
This year, our school's goal is to raise $200,000 and register 1,000 participants for race day! To register to run/walk, please visit www.bcracetoeducate.com and please donate to my PledgeReg page to help me reach my fundraising goal.

Thank you!
