It has taken me a long time to actually enjoy running. And when I say a long time, I mean years. I'll never forget the moment I realized I really, truly enjoyed running. It was when I realized that running makes me feel strong. It makes me feel powerful. It makes me feel in control.
Survivors of domestic violence are robbed of these feelings by their abusers.
On December 7, I'm participating in the 11th Annual Hot Chocolate Run which raises funds for Safe Passage, an organization that provides services and support for survivors in Hampshire county.
I'm running because I want to live in a world where all people can feel strong, powerful, and in control and where no one can take that from them.
As a volunteer for Safe Passage, I know firsthand just how crucial the work that they do is. I've heard the relief in a victim's voice when she calls the hotline and talks to someone who understands her experience and supports her. I've seen how woman and families are able to enter a new stage in their lives thanks to Safe Passage's programs.
I’m asking you to please make a donation to support Safe Passage’s important work.
Here are some ways Safe Passage will put your gift to work:
$30: Resources, support and hope for a woman calling the 24-hour hotline
$55: A survivor's first counseling session. For many of Safe Passage's clients, this is the first time they've felt heard. It's the first time in years that they've felt hopeful.
$120: A drop-in support group session for survivors of domestic violence
$225: Information, advice and support for a survivor facing a divorce or custody dispute
$500: Healing counseling for a child who has witnessed violence
All contributions are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an emailed receipt immediately after you donate.
You can make a difference for families affected by domestic violence. Donations of any amount will make a difference. Thank you so much for your support!
