Hello friends and family!
This summer's challenge is running the VT 100 mile and fundraising for VT Adaptive! Please consider donating to this cause and read my "why" below.
2024 has been quite the year for me. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in November of 2023 and underwent 5 rounds of chemotherapy and two weeks of radiation with treatment ending in March. I had committed to fundraising for Team Meb to run the Boston Marathon in April. Fortunately, this goal kept me as active as possible through my treatments. And with the help of a very understanding coach, I was able to complete the race and, more importantly, enjoy the day.
This year I am currently cancer free (yah!) and working on staying active and engaged. The VT 100 Mile has been on my radar for years and this is the year for me to give it a go. Last summer I was fortunate enough to volunteer overnight at the finish line. Seeing the racers run through the finish line is an amazing experience and solidified my commitment to starting (and finishing).
Choosing to fundraise for VT Adaptive this year is personal. I have a permanent shoulder injury from cancer that requires lifestyle modifications in my everyday life. I am lucky that I get to still do most of the activities I love. However, many athletes could not do what they love without organizations like VT Adaptive helping reach goals that might have been unreachable. None of this can happen without financial support. I'm committed to raising a minium of $1,500 but would like to surpass that number!
Please consider donating what you can to help me reach my goal and help Vermont Adaptive meet their goal.
Thank you!
Jessie
