On Sunday, December 7th I'll be running in the Hot Chocolate Run for Safe Passage. As many of you have before supported me in this important event you may know that Safe Passage provides life-saving (Life. Saving.) support to women and children who are daily subjected to abuse and threats on their lives.

Here's my I prioritize Safe Passage and why once again Raising Change will aim to set a record breaking fundraising year for this stellar organization:

1. Safe Passage acts quickly, swiftly and smartly to save women's lives. If the court system isn't working Safe Passage calls on high-performance attorneys who with the authoring of one letter can and have gotten a woman and her children out of an abusive home two months earlier than the court system. Their lives have been saved because Safe Passage acts.

2. Safe Passage priorities all women in need. Safe Passage has a specialized disability services program and is one of the only few shelters in the state that is fully accessible to women with disabilities. Safe Passage has created support systems for all women.

3. Safe Passage knows that communities can tackle problems and turn them around. When I first started running the Hot Chocolate Run, I didn't realize that many of the women who have accessed Safe Passages's services stood on the sidewalks cheering on the runners. One woman said to the Director of the organization, "Did all of these people really come out today for me?" She said the client beamed realizing that the community is behind her.

This year I am setting a goal to raise $10,000 for the Hot Chocolate Run. This will be the most money ever raised by an individual for this organization and the extraordinary women it serves.
