For just a moment today I am asking you to think of that time when you were at your lowest, your most alone, and your most in need. For many of us this was a great turning-point in our lives.
For me, and maybe for you, this was a time that someone else became my light. Someone else who didn't need to do anything at all. But they did. And the impact was greater than they knew.
It was a reminder that we are never truly alone. No matter how alone we feel.
On December 7 I will be in Dakar Senegal, working for Tostan, an organization that makes amazing strides on issues pertaining to women and girls in West Africa.
That day, I will drop everything, step outside and join the 11th Annual Hot Chocolate Run. This great event raises funds for Safe Passage, the organization addressing domestic violence in Hampshire County, Massachusetts.
Will you join me in expressing global solidarity for a woman, a family, a child in their time of greatest need? If you fund me I will put your name on my t-shirt and make the day and exciting adventure for all of us.
Every day, Safe Passage helps survivors of domestic violence take steps towards a brighter and safer future.
What I'm doing is going to be hard. I am not sure where I will be on December 7th-- I may be in a foreign city or a rural village. Running attire may not be acceptable. I am asking you to give something that really feels like a gift. I myself have given $30 to register. This happens to be a meaningful amount to me because it feels hard to do right now. It feels worth it. It feels like a gift.
All contributions are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an emailed receipt immediately after you donate.
Please join me in making this gift. It will mean a lot to me and to someone you will never meet. Someone who just needs a moment where they are no longer alone.
