The purpose of the Cancer Journeys Foundation Prostate Cancer Awareness Project (PCAP) is to increase the rate of prostate cancer survivorship through awareness and early detection. The PCAP has developed a PSA tracking tool ProstateTracker and offers it free for all men.
Each year in the United States, approximately 240,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer - that's one man every 17 minutes. On average, 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. The good news is that research shows prostate cancer is very treatable, but only if it is discovered early, before it has metastasized. According to the American Cancer Society, survival rates are nearly 100-percent for men with prostate cancer that is found while it is still within the prostate gland or nearby areas.
Contributions made through this fundraising event will support the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project in its purpose to spread the message of prevention and early detection.
