Completed - I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate all of the support you have given to me and Team ERRACE. I am speechless as to how generous you all have been. I will be posting a final summary on my Facebook page about this experience.
Less than 24 hours until the ERRACE.org charity bike ride. It is an awesome event for an even greater cause, to defeat cancer. 86% of the money raised in 2015 (over $100,000) was donated to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center and to the Livestrong Foundation, programs to treat cancer patients and support those diagnosed or caregivers.
As many of you know, I have been racing a bicycle since the late 70's and log between 12,000 and 14,000 miles per year on my bike. I currently race for Team ERRACE, which is an acronym for Everyone Ride Run Against Cancer Everyday. On July 16, I will not be racing my bike however, I will be riding, and hopefully for a very long time. There are a variety of options for riders, or runners, to choose that day. I first did this event 4 years ago, doing the 100 mile loop, which is the longest ride offered. In 2015, I decided to challenge my family and friends (many on Facebook) with making me ride further. My challenge was this, if I was able to raise $2,500, I would do a 200 mile ride. I ended up with $3,480 in donations thus, riding 200 miles which was the most I had ever done in one day. For 2016, I'm doing the same challenge however, I'm offering it with a twist. If I am able to beat my total of $3,480, even if it is by one penny, I will attempt to ride 300 miles in one day. I'm estimating that this will be about 18 hours.
For my prior 3 rides, I did them in honor of my sister in law Susan Feld who had been battling cancer for many years. Having lost Susan this past August, I will now ride in her memory and her village.
If you are a cyclist or runner please consider doing the event on July 16th. If you are not able to do the event, please consider donating to my ride which you can do by simply clicking donate above.
Thank you for your support.
Please feel free to share this post to help spread the word. I can't thank you enough for your past support. Hope to see you on the road.
