Dear Family and Friends,
This time next week, I hopefully will have my 6th Boston Marathon medal. It is a journey I begin every year in December and end on Patriot's Day on Boylston Street in Boston. Patriot's Day is April 18th this year. I love the journey. I love pushing my body to the edge to discover what it is capabe of. It has its ups and downs every year, but I keep going because I also train and race for something larger than myself. I Run and Ride for teamERRACE which stands for Everyone Ride/Run Against Cancer Everyday. ERRACE. I live this acronym. I believe in it. I want cancer to hit the road and not come back. Ever. I don't want anyone else to miss a loved one that has been taken from them too early because of this awful disease. I want others to still be able to call their mom like I wish for every single day. So I run and I ride, hoping to inspire others to be healthy and fit because I feel prevention is as important as the cure. I train so I can race hard and hopefully be successful enough that I may donate any race winnings during the year back to my team to support our charities of ERRACE. Racing for something larger than my own personal glory makes me keep going when it gets difficult. The support I get from loved ones, friends, teammates, my track family and students at school, and those in the cycling community that I adore, means the world to me and believe me when I say, I take you with me every step from Hopkinton to Boston. It is a thrill and a joy to run down Boylston Street to the finish line knowing you helped me get there. Please support my run on Monday. I would appreciate it so very much!
Here's to taking a Right on Hereford St and a Left on Boylston St next Monday!!!
For my mom. Always.
Love,
Sheridan
A little bit about the team I ride and run for... “ERRACE, presented by DSO Manufacturing,” is made up of local amateur male and female racers. All of the team’s winnings go to ERRACE and we ride in support of them all year. Please take a moment and sponsor my participation in the ERRACE ride by making a donation to ERRACE. Every donation benefits The Hartford Hospital Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center and the Livestrong Foundation. The Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center is a nationally-recognized center for the treatment of patients with cancer, and one of the largest of its kind in the Northeast United States. It houses not only many talented and experienced medical specialists and support personnel, but the latest in technologic equipment to provide cutting edge, state-of-the-art care. More than 50,000 patient visits are made annually to this Center.
Thank you so much for helping me ERRACE cancer!
